Fidget is the secondary villain in the 1986 Disney film, The Great Mouse Detective. He is voiced by Candy Candido. He is a small, sharp-toothed bat with a crippled wing and a peg leg. He is Ratigan's main henchman and does most of the dirty work, such as kidnapping the toymaker Hiram Flaversham and his daughter, Olivia Flaversham, and stealing items for Ratigan's evil schemes. Near the end of the film, Fidget and Ratigan take Olivia hostage and try to escape on a hot air blimp. During their getaway, the crooks are chased by Basil, Dawson, and Flaversham on a makeshift balloon, Fidget pedals the blimp's propeller and tries to outrun them. He almost succeeds, but the extra weight is too much for him and tells Ratigan they have to lighten the load, meaning to throw Olivia off the blimp. Ratigan, out of sheer bad temper, grabs Fidget by the ears and throws him off the blimp instead. Fidget however cannot fly because of his bad wing and falls into the Thames River below where he apparently drowns. Although Disney Adventures Magazine made a comic about an adventure after the film, and Fidget appears in it, completely reformed and working with the heroes. This means Fidget somehow survived.
Trivia
Edit
People said that Fidget was dumb and very jerky. This most likely is not true because he succeed in MOST of the tasks given to him.
Fidget is the 3rd minion to fall, including Blue Demons, Hunter Dogs, The Toon Patrol, Helga Sinclair, and GO-4.
Fidget and LeFou from Beauty and the Beast are similar to their combination of many Disney henchmen such as; Mr. Smee from Peter Pan, Sir Hiss from Robin Hood, and Joanna from The Rescuers Down Under.
Fidget is similar to the Dreamworks villain, Wolf Boss from Kung Fu Panda 2. Both villains are right hand men to their masters (Ratigan and Lord Shen), are usually out doing their tasks, have physical disabilities (Fidget has a crippled wing and a peg leg and Wolf Boss has a bad eye), have been chased by the films protagonists (Basil and Po), and near the end have been done away by their own masters. The only difference is, the Disney Adventures Magazine reveals that Fidget somehow survived and reformed while Wolf Boss was stabbed to death.
