Carl "Crusher" Creel, a.k.a. Absorbing Man, is a villain who can turn into any material he touches.

Absorbing Man was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.

Bruce Banner seeks Creel to find information about the Cube, the prison for Gamma irradiated villains. However, Creel absorbs the metal of a spoon and attacks Banner to provoke him to turn into Hulk and fight him. Creel is defeated and sent to the Cube.

During the breakout, Absorbing Man and Abomination helped the Leader to take the Cube.

When the Leader activated his Gamma dome in Las Vegas, Absorbing Man absorbed Mjolnir to fight Thor, but this resulted on his undoing as Thor concentrated to control him just like he controls Mjolnir, so he sent Absorbing Man crashing into the Leader.

Absorbing Man was sent to Prison 42, and was one of the prisoners who helped the Avengers when Annihilus invaded the prison.

Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H.[]

Absorbing Man, Titania and the Wrecking Crew escape the Cube and face Hulk's team.  He is the boyfriend of Titania.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.[]

Carl Creel is a former boxer was recruited by John Garrett to be the new HYDRA assassin. He was sent by HYDRA to recover the Obelisk. In that mission, he attacks Glenn Talbot to know the whereabouts of the Obelisk. However, his plans were ruined because it was captured by Melinda May, Skye and the military.

While he was in prison of the militia, Creel uses his powers and manages to blend into his cell, believing that the prisoner escaped the guards enter in the cell. Creel hits them and escapes and goes in search of the Obelisk. When Creel finds the Obelisk, he sees that this object begins to petrify Agent Hartley, seeing this Creel decides to flee. Later, he attacks the van where they were Lance Hunter and Isabelle Hartley. Absorbing Man uses his powers to petrify himself and thus gets grab the Obelisk.

  • In the comics, Carl Creel received his powers from Loki to confront Thor.
